Each cover has its own emblematic illustration, topped by a dragon, emblazoned on the cover. Pink marbled endpapers, satin ribbon bookmark still tucked in. 9.25" x 11.25", 160 pp. Volume 1: The Rhinegold & The Valkyrie contains 34 full-color plates.Volume 2: Siegfried & The Twilight of the Gods contains 30 full-color plates. All are tipped on to intersticed, unnumbered, heavy card weight pages, with transluscent page protector. The Ring cycle marked a deliberate, mature departure for Rackham who had done children's classic Peter Pan and Alice. In this series he leaned into dark, eerie, and brooding Art Nouveau aesthetics to convey the cosmic gravity of the Norse legends. The book is in Fine condition, near as new, origionally purchased for shelf value, never read. All edges gilt. / Slipcase in beige cloth, complementing the leather, with gilt titling on the front, small 1/2" stray pencil mark on front, Otherwise in Fine condition. Item #3433
