Ouseley, Sir William, Ouseley,(1767 - 1842) was the eldest brother of his equally talented siblings. One of which was his younger brother, Sir Gore Ouseley, to whom the books are dedicated. Ouseley served as his brother's secretary when the younger was British Diplomat to Persia. William became a committed Orientalist Scholar early in life and built upon this reputation with translations, travel and authorship. Very good minus the usual occasinal foxing for a book of this period, loose or early seperation at some of the six inner gutters, worm holes on some front and inside covers, but text block free of this menace. Blind stamped brown cloth covers are worn at the extremeties, some edges, and Vol. 1 has closely matching library tape appled to the spine. Item #3369
