Three pieces of Roosevelt ephemera including [1] 8.5" x 11", inscribed, half folded, uncut foredge by Acme Newspapers promoting the photography of Thompson in an upcoming issue of Coronet (vol. 13, no. 2, whole no. 74 (December 1942) pp.111-130). [2] 5.38" x 7.75", 14 pp. of black and white photos of rarely seen photos of FDR. [3] 8.5" x 11" folded heavy weight program for the 1933 Souvenir Program of the Jefferson Roosevelt Dinner at the Olympic Hotel in Seattle Washington with FDR's bust on cover. Dinner speakers include: Clarence Martin, Gov. of Washington and John W. Troy, Governor of Alaska and Henry White, President of King County Democratic Club. The program has some inconsequential dirt smudges and "1933" printed in pencil. All items are in fine condition. A very uncommon preserved collection.
Johnny Thompson had unprecedented access to FDR in the coveted position of White House presidential photographer. His candid photos appeared in about 650 newspapers. In 1948 he won the Grand Prize for his photo "Hell on Earth" at the Texas in the 5th Annual "News Pictures of the Year" Fine. Item #827
