Holographic Letter Signed
Nov. 28 [2000]. Autograph Letter Signed "Jerry Ford", with close association to recipient. One page, 6.38" x 8.5", November 28 [2000] on personal stationary with Presidential Seal. A letter to former Press Secretary, Ron Nessen, in regards to a piece written by Nessen that appeared in the Washington Post. Handwriting is all bold and legible with signature in the familiar form "Jerry Ford".
Ron Nessen had written a piece titled, "It Shouldn't Have to Be This Way; Remember the President Who Helped Us Rise Above Rancor", which discussed the 2000 Presidential Election and the ballot scandal that ensued. Gerald Ford, of course, had seen his own share of political scandal when he assumed the presidency after Richard Nixon resigned on August 9, 1974.
Gerald Rudolph Ford Jr. (born Leslie Lynch King Jr.; Jul 14, 1913 – Dec 26, 2006) was the 38th President of the United States from Aug '74 to Jan '77, following the resignation of Richard Nixon. Prior to this he served eight months as the 40th Vice President of the United States, following the resignation of Spiro Agnew. He was the first person appointed to the vice presidency under the terms of the 25th Amendment, and consequently the only person to have served as both Vice President and President of the United States without being elected to executive office. Before his appointment to the vice presidency, Ford served 25 years as U.S. Representative from Michigan's 5th congressional district, the final nine of them as the House Minority Leader.
