Royal blue cloth over boards with titling in gilt on the spine. 5.5" x 8.5", pp. xiii, 3-310, with a preface by Thomas Mann and translated by Heniz and Ruth Norden. Book in near fine condition with a good dust jacket. Bumped corners, age and spot to top edge, adhesive bleed through at the endpaper gutters. DJ is worn at the edges and chipped at spine ends, rubbing and tear to cover, now properly protected in mylar. Gumpert, an acclaimed doctor and author from Germany, espouses on the sometimes humorous, yet always profound, observations in his journey from immigrant to full fledged American citizen. Item #2748
