Item #269 TLS. John F. Kennedy.

Washington DC: United States Senate, August 17, 1959. SIGNED in the familiar "Jack Kennedy" one page type written letter to Dr. Alan York dated August 17th, 1959. The letter discusses his impending decision to seek the Democratic presidential nomination. Accompanied by original envelope. The letter is in very good condition with minimal toning at edges. Envelope bears a few small spots and creases. Dimensions: 8" x 10.5" Senator Kennedy discourages the recipient from launching into full support mode for his candidacy prior to his official announcement. JFK held off announcing until January 2, 1960, but this is an indication of the support which was building early on. Fine. Item #269

"Dear Dr. York: I expect to make a decision around the first of the year as to whether or not I will be a candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, and should it be in the affirmative, it is my hope tha you will still be of assistance."

Price: $1,850.00
