Association Copy to fellow astronaut Gus Grissom; SIGNED "Best Regards - John Glenn" on half title page with black felt tip pen. 5.5" x 8.25", pp. xiv, 2-248. Includes several historic pieces of ephemera. Tipped into front cover is a 4-cent Project Mercury stamped, canceled envelope dated Feb 20, 1962. This is the date of John Glenn's space flight when he became the first American to orbit the earth, which he did three times that day. Also included is a one-page copy of a document tucked into the book, entitled "Endeavour Hookup", apparently in Glenn's writing. Light bumping to corners, else near fine, DJ not present. Provenance Included: Signed statement from Mark Grissom, son of the Astronaut Gus Grissom, confirming the family's chain of possession. Near fine. Item #2685
