May 17, 1883. As private secretary to Cleveland, Lamont responds to an invitation May 17, 1883, on Executive Chamber, State of New York stationary, 5" x 7 3/4", two pages. Letter to Israel A.Barker, Chief Marshall Brooklyn Sunday School Union. With a fine bold signature, smudge on front page, quarter fold lines, the letter is in excellent condition.
Daniel Scott Lamont born in Cortlandville, N.Y., Feb. 9, 1851, spent many years working for Grover Cleveland. He was private secretary to the President Cleveland (1885-89); Cleveland's Secretary of War (1893-97). When Cleveland was governor of New York, Lamont was on his military staff (1883). He was the governor's private secretary (1883-85). Fine. Item #197
